“Hello, and Welcome. I’m Deanna and I want to take you on a little journey—the story of how Chime Tea came to be.
I’ve been a hairdresser for over 40 years, working with all sorts of products and chemicals. Over time, my sensitivity to those chemicals grew, and I knew I had to make a change. I started using safer products and partnering with innovative brands, but I felt there was still more to explore.
That’s when my interest in natural health really took off. I started learning everything I could, eventually earning a qualification in nutritional medicine. It was eye-opening—just confirming what I’d always believed: nature gives us everything we need to nourish ourselves.
At my salon in Camberwell, we put a lot of love into our organic coffee and tea menu, and our clients adored it. But back then, organic teas were limited. So many of them had fancy names but were packed with artificial flavouring. An ‘orange’ tea without a trace of real orange? That didn’t sit right with me. I knew there had to be a better way.
So, I started experimenting. I sourced organic teas, flowers, and spices from wholesalers and got to work in my kitchen. My husband and I had a favourite Arctic Fire tea from a big-name brand, but it gave me an allergic reaction—so I set out to recreate it, naturally. It’s still a work in progress, but I love the challenge!
As I played around with different blends, I started sharing them with friends. The feedback was amazing! Over time, I perfected some of our signature blends, like our French Earl Grey. Each cup told a story—flavours that felt warm, familiar, and full of nostalgia. And now, we’re even working on a Russian Earl Grey, a spiced-up twist on the classic, inspired by my childhood memories of Russian tea rituals.
Honestly, my love for tea started long before Chime was even an idea. As a kid, I was always playing around—dropping cinnamon sticks into Russian tea, trying different sugars, adjusting the milk—just to see how tiny changes could transform a drink. That curiosity has shaped everything I do, both personally and professionally, and it’s what led to Chime Tea.
Every blend we create is crafted with that same sense of wonder and excitement. We carefully source the best organic ingredients, always looking for the perfect balance of flavours. No shortcuts, no artificial additives—just real, delicious tea made with passion and love.
What started as a simple kitchen experiment has turned into something so much bigger. Chime Tea is about more than just a drink—it’s about savouring the moment, appreciating authentic flavours, and reconnecting with yourself over a beautifully brewed cup.
